Mr Devereux - day 2

Hi there! Things are going really well here. And the best bit for me so far is: everyone actually goes to SLEEP after lights out. How cool is that? It must be the amount of energy everyone burns off in the day. This is one very active class.

I’m sorry to report a funeral at sea for one of Moonbeam’s welly boots – it is now keeping company with the fish at the bottom of Loch Eck. Don’t be too cross, mum – it wasn’t lost on purpose! The boys’ dorms are amazing! In the big dorm they lined up all their deodorants like soldiers on parade and laid out all the toothbrushes and toothpaste in a regimental display. The carpet was so clean you could have eaten your meal off it. As for the girls’ dorms…well, let’s say they're working on them.

Everyone was quite tired last night and it was remarkably quiet at tea. Everyone got a second wind afterward and went bonkers again!

Kizzy, Fish and Dizzee went for a swim in the loch! I won’t be doing that.

My group went down Puck’s glen, well known locally as a haunt of the fairy folk. The instructor taught us a Gaelic song to attract them which everyone sang on a bridge over the burn in the hope of seeing some. It was a strange and quite different moment.

Everyone is safe and happy – and fizzing with excitement. It’s like being at camp with a class of fizzy drink bottles that have just had sugar put in them and then been shaken. They’ll be telling you stories for weeks.

Thanks for the comments – keep them coming!

Well done Mr. Devereux. You will be exhausted by the time Friday comes. This blog is fantastic. I feel we can be part of things without cramping our kids style! Thank you.

Sounds all gr8 & I hope the weather has been like home, very sunny today! Lovely pictures, glad the kids give you a go too Mr.Devereux!!! Sad about the welly, but given the story last year about the missing trousers, there must be a "best dressed sea creature" down in the depths of loch Eck. Hope you hold out until Fri. How is Rev. Lyons bearing up.

Mr D

We love your blog! Particularly the bits about the boys' dorms - you are obviously managing to achieve what we can't at home! Fantastic comment about the fizzy drinks too - just make sure that the tops don't explode!

Hello Iain
I am impressed. And a bit envious. Your children are so great. I am sure you are right this trip will be something to remember and tell stories about.
