Mr Devereux - day 3

If you’ve read a few of the comments on day 3, you’ll know by now that everything was ‘very fun’, ‘scary’ and ‘FANTASTIC’. You’ll also be suffering from exclamation mark fatigue. I will write this post without the use of E.M.s, not because I’ve nothing exciting to say, but as the E.M. key on my laptop has nearly worn out. Yes, it was a brilliant day for everyone, with all pushing themselves on so many different challenges. (By the way, have you noticed how (very) many of the children are using brackets (like these)? I (just) taught this the other week and they are (frequently) popping up all over the posts).

We nearly had another welly funeral. It was a marsh this time. And it was Ponakins’ turn. There was a dramatic sucking sound and Ponakins began to look not at tall as usual. Brownie and Swagger came to the rescue. Ponakins was pulled out, flying through the air to land in an undignified heap and then a separate rescue operation was mounted to rescue the boot which had been left behind in the bog. I showed great compassion by standing back to photograph the whole thing. If the welly went under for the third time, I wanted to catch its final moments.

Lots of the children, especially the girls, are making friends with the children from Mauricewood Primary (from Penicuik) which is really nice to see.

Bee has spent most of the week telling us it’s her birthday on Thursday. Well, it’s almost here at last so the waiting is nearly over, Bee… (I’m not using E.Ms today, but I can still cope with the occasional ellipsis…)

The boys are still getting 10/10 for dorm inspection, but the girls have managed to hit 8½, so things are improving. Just think of all that room tidying and cleaning experience these children will have by the time they come home. No excuse for a messy bedroom now…

I haven’t got a decent picture of Murrzo yet. She keeps running away from the camera. I’ll try again today.

After nearly 7 years of being taught to measure in metres, isn’t it interesting that the children measure their distances in feet?

We’re all having fun and the weather’s been great. I’m really enjoying myself and sleep deprivation hasn’t kicked in yet. No, seriously, it’s great and I’m having a good laugh. The children keep me constantly entertained.

TTFN,

Mr Devereux

There will be no wellys left to come home on the bus! (my button still working) All sounds like they will not be able to move to make a mess when they come home. Enjoy the disco tonight & keep those dance moves under control Mr.Devereux... no break dancing (you may just break something) See you all tomorrow, what sort of time at school do you think???

Just wondered if Robbie can stay another week (I haven't finished gutting her room yet!!!)
By the way I found the letter about the trip to the Knox, (in her school bag!!!) and Bethany's birthday card.

Enjoy the disco. See you all tomorrow.
